Trafomic/Walle supports young talents in shot put – Miika Lahtonen and Minttu Laurila

We were pleased to welcome shot put athletes Miika Lahtonen and Minttu Laurila to our factory.

Their training season has gone well for both of them, and they have set ambitious goals for the upcoming competition season.

Miika Lahtonen:

His achievements in 2024 included a 4th-place finish at the Kaleva Games and the Finnish U20 championship. His season best last year was 17.79 m.

During the current indoor season, Miika has already improved his personal best to 18.70 m. He won both the adult and U20 Finnish indoor championships. In addition, he earned a bronze medal at the European Throwing Cup in Cyprus.

This coming summer, Miika aims to push the shot over 19 meters, win gold at the Kaleva Games in Espoo, and secure a medal at the U23 European Championships in Bergen, Norway. He also aims to compete in Germany at the FISU World University Games, in the European Team Championships in Madrid, and in the Finland–Sweden International Match in Stockholm.

Minttu Laurila:

Minttu performed well in the 2024 season. She won the U20 Nordic Championship in Copenhagen and the Finnish Championship in the same age category. The World U20 Championships were held in Lima, Peru, where she achieved an excellent 10th place in the U20 final. During the season, she improved her personal best to 15.62 m.

Her goal for the upcoming summer is to succeed at the U23 European Championships in Bergen, Norway, from 17–20 July 2025. She has already met the qualification standard, so the focus is now on reaching the final and performing as well as possible there.

Improving her personal best beyond 16 metres is another target for the season. In the indoor season she already set a new personal best of 15.65 m, and she aims to push that into a new metre range. Motivated by these improvements, she is also aiming for the Finnish Championship title in the U23 category.
