For Turku-based shot putter Minttu Laurila, the goal for 2024 was to qualify for the U20 World Championships. She achieved this by surpassing the required qualification mark. The main target for the season is now to reach the final at the U20 World Championships.
Before the World Championships in Peru, several other competitions will serve as important opportunities to show her form. Next, Laurila is preparing for the Finnish Championships (Kaleva Games), starting on June 27, where her goal is to finish among the top six.
Despite her young age, Laurila has already achieved a great deal. Her accolades include the U20 Nordic Championship title, 6th place at the U20 European Championships, the U20 Finnish Championship, and 6th place at the Kaleva Games.
